A Three Day Summer Road Trip of the Pacific Northwest
A Three Day Summer Road Trip of the Pacific Northwest
Summer is road trip season and the Pacific Northwest has an endless selection of beautiful routes to take. Here are a few of our favorite stops and scenes.
First Stop: Seattle, WA
Home Base: Hotel Theodore
Sights: Stroll through the iconic Public Market and pick up some fresh flowers or get your groove on at the Museum of Pop Culture. After a long day of walking the city, seeing the sights and shopping till you drop – grab a cocktail and dinner at Rider, one of Seattle’s top restaurants and bars. Dan Mallahan, the skilled chef, highly recommends the dungeness crab. His absolute favorite food!
Next Stop: 34 miles (1.5 hours) to Tacoma, WA
Homebase: Hotel Murano
Sights: Less than a mile from the hotel is a stunning display of PNW passion. The Museum of Glass opened in 2002 and is still the largest, most active glassmaking museum and studio on the West Coast. Take a hike on Washington’s tallest mountain, Mount Rainier, then come back and refuel in downtown Tacoma with a wagyu beef burger and the signature King Bee cocktail at Bar960.
Last Stop: 144 miles (2.5 hours) to Portland, OR
Homebase: Dossier
Sights: Continue south until you hit the Columbia River, then drive east on Highway 14 across the Bridge of the Gods to enter the lush landscape of the Gorge. Here you can cool off with the spray from Multnomah Falls before heading to your final destination less than an hour away. And naturally, it’s Dossier. With dinner and drinks at Rosa Rosa or a massage from Knot Springs to refresh you, it’s the ideal place to decompress after the drive. Plus, if you’re not ready for your exploration to end, grab a pack from our Adventure Valet and check out one of the many nearby hikes.
