Hotel Lucia’s Guide to Portland

Portland City Guide

In Portland, craft beer is king, good food is anything but hard to find, and even the city’s rainiest days carry a beauty of their own. Look here for tips on where to capture Portland’s good side.

While we’ve listed just some of our favorite spots here, this certainly isn’t all – check out our neighborhood guide. As you plan future trips, please double check with the featured business’s websites as, given safety measures in place and state regulations, hours and operations may be affected.

Grab breakfast on the go at Fried Egg I’m in Love food truck set up at Pioneer Square, a quick walk from Hotel Lucia’s front doors. With super punny names like Egg Zeppelin and Smells like Protein Spirit, how can you not partake?

For stellar Vietnamese food within walking distance of your guest room, try Luc Lac. It’s not uncommon to find a line at the door, but their tasty pho and Banh Mi’s are worth the wait (or skip the line by ordering your to-go eats online). For ramen, look no further than Afuri, its first restaurant outside of Japan. Order take out or through DoorDash® online.

If vibrant yet traditional menus are your thing, look no further than up the street at Tasty n Alder where you will indulge in deep rooted dishes featuring meats, seafood and salads that have never let us down. The Toro Bravo Inc Restaurant Group is offering healthy pickup and delivery options through their website.

Last, but not least, you can never go wrong with a slice of New York-style pie from The Crown. With easy passage through the lobby, James Beard Award-winning Chef Vitaly Paley works his magic with classic pizzas by the slice and specialty pies that draw inspiration from common ingredients called upon at other eateries of his around town including Imperial (also onsite) as well as Paley’s Place and Headwaters.

Craft Beer HourDRINK

Caffeine first. Deadstock Coffee on NW Couch Street in China Town is hot off the press with a snob-free vibe and a steadfast belief that coffee should be dope. With Nike in its backyard, Deadstock is part coffee shop, part shoe gallery, where sneaker heads and those in the city’s design scene converge.

When things start to open up, you’ll find exceptional cocktails within walking distance of Hotel Lucia at Pink Rabbit on NW 12th Avenue. Kick back and enjoy the bar’s vibe-y interior and a cheeky drink menu with a little nod to rock bands.

And if you’re looking for a proper pint, head down the block to 10 Barrel Brewing Co for a wide selection of local craft beers available on tap, in bottles or for take away if you have a growler in hand. For now, delivery is available.

Across the river on SE Belmont Street, Cascade Brewing Barrel House goes all-in on sour beers while Schilling Cider House features 50 ciders on tap and gluten free comfort food directly across the street from Cascade. Both available for takeout.

For an unconventional tour of Portland, give Forest for the Trees Northwest a follow and check out their website for a list of locations where street artists have collaborated with the organization to bring large scale contemporary murals to public spaces across the city.

Portland WaterfrontGET OUTSIDE

Despite our fair share of rainy days, Portland is undeniably picturesque year-round with plenty of places to hone your aperture skills. Within walking distance of the hotel, Tom McCall Waterfront Park offers views of the bridges that give the city its nickname as Bridgetown including the Burnside, Hawthorne, Fremont, Morrison and Tilikum Crossing bridges (pro tip: a couple paces up the Burnside Bridge will give you a good glimpse of the notorious flashing Portland sign). Or head to Washington Park to snap photos of the famed florals and fauna at the Hoyt Arboretum and International Rose Test Garden.

As one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the U.S., there’s no end of routes to ride. Reserve your own single speed for cruising the Waterfront or road bike for some deep neighborhood exploration with Cycle Portland, a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
