Hotel Max Meets Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture, MoPOP

A River Running Through A City

A longtime partner of Hotel MaxThe Museum of Pop Culture’s mission is to make creative expression a life-changing force by offering experiences that inspire and connect communities.

In an increasingly fragmented world, pop culture is a universal language through which folks can build connections. MoPOP is both a physical space and an intellectual and emotional opportunity for people from every background to explore, find community, and recognize their own creative potential. With the help of visitors and supporters, the museum offers experiences that catalyze living a creatively inspired life.

Jacob McMurray, Director of Curatorial, Collections & Exhibits, explained to us that “We have over 100,000 objects that we’ve gathered over the last 25 years or so comprising of a large amount of material from the Pacific Northwest. But also covering a lot of territory including early hip hop, Jamaican ska rock, reggae, punk rock, Chicago blues, riot grrrl, and beyond. It’s a wealth of material and we’re only able to showcase a small fraction of it.”

Since opening its doors in 2000, in Seattle, Washington, MoPOP’s nonprofit museum has reached more than 11 million people. Their work helps preserve pop culture history for future generations, create community with engaging programs and events, and motivate future creators to innovate and inspire through their own artistic expression.
