The JAMNOLA Experience: A Creative Love Letter to New Orleans

The Old No. 77 Hotel story is an artful one, from our partnerships with local organizations like Where y'Art, on-going artist in residence program to our rotating art gallery. Which is why we’re thrilled to be welcoming JAMNOLA into the fold to help create a unique only-in New Orleans art experience for our guests. What exactly is JAMNOLA? Featuring 12 rooms for guests of all ages to explore, the interactive experience is crafted using the work of 20+ local artists. The must-see event vibrantly celebrates the cultural gems and traditions of New Orleans via each Instagram-worthy room. 

This passion project was founded by Jonny Liss and Chad Smith in creative partnership with Where Y’Art, a New Orleans-based artist collective that served as curator, artistic director and creative partner of the experience. Local legend George Porter, Jr. selected the music and a percentage of JAMNOLA’s proceeds are donated back to New Orleans charities. “JAMNOLA has been more than a decade in the making. “Since I first set foot in New Orleans 28 years ago, I knew this city was special,” said Jonny Liss, JAMNOLA co-founder. “I wanted to create a tribute to the city’s people and invest in the culture. JAMNOLA is a love letter to New Orleans—her joy, her beauty and grit, her resilience.”   

JAMNOLA opened in August of 2020 with strong support from the local community and has now been featured in countless travel, business and lifestyle publications including Conde Nast Traveler who included JAMNOLA in their top 20 New Orleans experiences describing the experience as  “a sensory playground and a joyous one at that!”   

“Now that the city is opening up we can’t wait to share it with visitors and tourists,” said Jonny Liss. “The lead artists we selected—their out-of-the-box thinking and innovation will absolutely blow you away. JAMNOLA features a personalized microsite available to all guests providing access to photos, videos and a “Cultural Concierge” that curates content by local experts on everything from po-boy recommendations to outdoor adventures using proximity activation technology.   

Regular priced tickets are $29.00 for adults and $20 for kids 3-12. Kids under 3 are free. As a guest of The Old No. 77 Hotel you can receive a 20% discount using the code Old77JAM. Tickets need to be pre-purchased online at JAMNOLA.com and operating hours vary Wednesday thru Sunday.  This fantastical guided storyteller experience takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.
