Never leave the dog behind. That’s my motto as a new dog mom to a cheeky and adventurous golden retriever puppy named Whiskey. As a Portland local, I’m rediscovering the city through Whiskey’s eyes. In the short time he’s been a part of the family, we’ve made a pack of new friends and discovered that exploring Portland is just more fun with him by our side. Walking a block may take a half hour, but it’s about the journey, right? (Only a cat person can resist that handsome face.)

I find that well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome at most casual outdoor patios and spaces but it’s always a good idea to ask ahead of time.

Pet Tea at Hotel deLuxe
For the pet that enjoys the finer things in life, Hotel deLuxe offers a Pet Tea service in the lobby so four-legged companions can imbibe – or rather, embark – on a culinary adventure, too. The 90-minute service includes special blends of pet-safe tea and fresh baked treats in addition to a full Afternoon Tea service for humans. Service is available weekly from Wednesday to Sunday at 3:00, 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. and priced at $39 for adults, $18 for children age 12 and under plus $20 per pet (excluding gratuity).
