Through the Eyes of Art, A Black History Month Celebration: The Cookout

Text

MoPOP, Museum of Pop Culture, in Seattle is putting together some incredible programming for the 8th annual Through the Eyes of Art, A Black History Month Celebration. Throughout the month, MoPOP will be inviting people from all over to come together (virtually), have deep conversations centered around the theme – The Cookout – covering a wide range of topics from soul food cuisine and Seattle's Black-owned food community to important issues related to health and wellness, food justice, and access.

The month will conclude with an all-virtual cook-along with special guest Danielle Alex on Sunday, February 28 at 6:00pm PST. Participants will learn how to cook a delicious soul food dish; how food is a form of cultural identity and an important part of the black experience; how they can support local black restaurants; and help support food justice programs and get to be a part of a very fun and important Seattle community.

Additional event details can be found here.

In continued support of our local Illuminators, and to help provide a voice for Seattle’s communities of color, Provenance’s Hotel Theodore is proud to support this historic, live virtual event, and look forward to continuing to offer a diverse range of art, culture and events in the community in which we serve.
