Throw Back Beers at Our Favorite Fenway Game-Day Spots

Our Favorite Fenway Spots

From the Pats and Bruins to the Sox, here in Boston, we seriously love our sports — so much so, it’s basically a religion, and Fenway Park is where we hold service. No matter whether our beloved Red Sox win or lose, we show up with pride in our hearts, and we raise a pint to them in tribute. Below is a list of our favorite sports bars in the Fenway area where we love to catch a game with our closest friends — and all the patrons at the bar who will be our friends by game’s end, in true Boston style.

Game OnIs Game On the perfect sports bar? Quite possibly! Lots of games, both on TVs and of the playing variety, huge, delicious and shareable portions of gut-busting stadium-esque grub, like nachos and pizza, served up in a welcoming space just below the crowds of Fenway. It’s a fun spot to grab a drink and a meal before or after a Red Sox game if you’ve got stadium seats, or a particularly exciting place to hang out and watch a game on the screens while still feeling like you’re there in the Park.

Lansdowne PubIf there are two things Boston does well, it’s a sports bar and an Irish pub, and Lansdowne is the perfect blend of both. In the shadow of the Green Monster, Lansdowne provides a cheerful gathering place to watch the game while chowing down on comforting pub fare. Their enormous rooftop deck makes you feel like you’re actually watching from inside the stadium. And if you can pull your eyes away from the score, they also host lively events like trivia and themed brunch.

Cask n’ FlagonA two-minute walk to Fenway, the Cask n’ Flagon offers a huge, meaty menu of sports bar favorites, plus a decently varied beer, cider and wine list. The bar is lined with iconic black-and-white photos of sports moments captured by Boston Globe photographer, Dennis Brearly, and there are plenty of screens playing local and national games. However, the Cask is definitely at its best as a pre- or post-game drinks spot, so hit it up when you’re holding tickets.

Loretta’s Last CallLoretta’s may be the unlikeliest of spots for watching a sports game, with its line-dancing weekends and southern-fried décor, but not only is it located across the street from the stadium, you can settle up and watch a game on their TVs with your posse. Was there ever a better food to accompany baseball than hot chicken and biscuits? Loretta’s has an impressively wide selection of beer, a fantastic brunch to go along with those early games — and who says you can’t celebrate a home run with a Cupid Shuffle?

Bleacher BarWhile some of us may have spent some time in our teens drinking clandestine brews under the bleachers, Bleacher Bar makes the experience way more fun — and a lot less secretive — because these bleachers are actually inside Fenway Park, and you’re of legal drinking age now! There’s something very special about hanging out in what used to be the away team’s batting cages, and hearing the thrum and cheers of the crowds above makes every play you watch on the screens feel so much more exciting, you can’t help but feel as involved in the game as the fans upstairs. Not to mention, the bar food is to die for.
