EAT

Bright, with quaint décor and wafting scents of homemade pies and flakey pastries, North Portland’s Sweedeedee epitomizes farm-to-table brunch in a cozy café setting, always with a record on. Dotted with house plants that make this essential Portland brunch spot feel like home, we recommended arriving early to get a taste of this neighborhood eatery.

Meanwhile, one of Portland’s hottest restaurants, Bullard, is housed just off our lobby, and is not to be missed. Here, Chef Doug Adams masterfully marries his East Texas hometown roots to Portland’s timber-rich landscape with a wood-fired menu of unfussy smoked meats and seasonal veggies. With homegrown hospitality always on the menu, come holler for lunch or dinner daily. Make sure you check their website for their hours.  

The latest delectable venture Peter Cho and Sun Young Park, Toki opened downtown in early 2021. Adopting the grill from former Tasty n Alder, the menu is a mix of grilled eats, fresh dishes like chilled noodles and their famed Korean fried chicken so you get that good old Han Oak feel.  

DRINK

If you’re partial to great coffee, you need not go far. The folks at Good Coffee serve theirs daily in the heart of our lobby. Behind the counter, Good Coffee’s great humans deliver fresh-brewed coffee and early morning necessities daily, however, if you want to venture further, you can find their flagship coffee shop over on Division Street in the city’s ultra-hip eastside neighborhood where their goodness found its first address.  

Meanwhile, tea lovers can cozy up at Smith Teamaker’s Central Eastside tasting room, where patrons can take a factory tour, sample and sip thoughtfully small–batch, whole-leaf teas, and herbal infusions.    

If something stronger is required, we recommend raising your glass in Abigail Hall, tucked just off our lobby. Imbibe with a cheerful menu of fine cocktails served in an intimate atmosphere where hand-painted floral motifs adorn the walls that once housed a ladies’ receptions hall in the former Cornelius Hotel. Head to Palomar for Cuban small plates and daily daiquiris by New Orleans native, Ricky Gomez. Or, venture to northwest Portland for Solo Club, an adventurous hideout serving top-notch fries, bitters-loving libations, and an anything-but-lonely atmosphere. PLANTS, POT & PERSONAL GOODS

Tucked off the corner of NW 25th & Thurman Street in Portland’s Alphabet District, Betsy & Iya is a vibrant boutique that houses a discerning collection of fine jewelry created in-house by local designers. Their sun-filled shop blossoms with decorative homewares, accessories, and clothing sourced from Portland to Morocco and beyond. Planted next door, Solabee Flowers woos plant lovers with fresh–cut florals, botanicals and natural treasures fit for those with (or without) a green thumb.

GET OUTSIDE

Winding further west up Thurman Street lies the Leif Erickson Trail Head and gateway to the city’s beloved Forest Park. Here you’ll find over 30 miles of meandering trails and the flora that served as inspiration for the guestroom accent walls within Woodlark.   

Crossing the river to Portland’s eastside (with a second downtown location on Southwest 1st Avenue), Serra specializes in the greenery of another kind, dispensing a cannabis experience unlike any other in the city with a minimalist, curated retail space on southeast Belmont Street that is as beautiful as it is uncommon.
